Simply Earth December Essential Oil Recipe Box

Christmas came early for this girl over here at A Hosting Home! That’s right. I got December’s Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box! It arrived while we were out of town last week for Thanksgiving, and I was so bummed! (Only because I couldn’t play with it right away…) I literally ran to open it up as soon as I walked through the front door when I got home this weekend.

My love for Christmas and the holidays runs deep, so I couldn’t wait for this month’s Christmas themed recipe box. Ever since we got home I’ve been working hard to get this post up fast so you can get a peek of this month’s box. Because you thought the November recipe box sold out fast? I don’t see this month’s recipe box being any different. Tis the season for gifts and goodies – and the December essential oil recipe box from Simply Earth has something for everyone!

Take a Peek at My Previous Boxes:

New Here?

About Simply Earth Essential Oils

With all the traffic that holiday content brings, I have a lot of new friends here tuning into the blog. So let me take a second to fill y’all in that are new around here and not totally familiar with Simply Earth, why I love them, and their essential oil recipe box that I’ve been raving about month after month after month. (You can take a look at any of my past boxes, here!)

Simply Earth is an essential oil company focused on making essential oils easy to use and helping you create a natural home. While they work hard to help you create a natural home, they’re also committed to quality with their Simply Pure Promise to provide you with the highest quality, 100% pure essential oils. Not to mention, without a middleman, they are at least half the price of MLM brands like Young Living. (For example, the Peppermint and Mandarin oils in this month’s box would have cost you $65 alone from doTerra!)

My 3 Favorite Things About Simply Earth Essential Oils

1 | Commitment to Quality

I really love when a company has a commitment to quality – so I love that I can count on Simply Earth to provide me with all-natural, 100% pure essential oils that I can trust are natural and healthy to use in my home. What’s even better is that Simply Earth is also all about making the use of essential oils easy. I love that Simply Earth tells you about each essential oil on the back of the bottle. They include the part of the plant it came from, the origin, the plant name, and the aroma that the oil has. It is also disclosed if an oil is child safe – and the age in which it is safe to use. (Which my momma friends know is super important!)

2 | Helping the World

Not only do I love when a company has a commitment to quality. But I love a company even more when they are working to do good in this world. To be honest, what actually sold me on Simply Earth is that they partner with a variety of different organizations to end human trafficking. They do this by sharing 13% of their profits each month to organizations like 5 Stones, Exodus Cry, The Daughter Project, and Grounds of Grace.

This month, Simply Earth is partnering with Night Light Bangkok. Night Light is a nonprofit organization offering holistic intervention and restoration for women, families, and communities affected by the global sex industry. They also offer dignifying employment and personal development opportunities to women who have come out of prostitution or trafficking in Thailand with their Night Light Design jewelry business.

3 | Community and Support

Simply Earth has an amazing Facebook group exclusively for Simply Earth Recipe Box subscribers! In this group, subscribers can ask questions, share their own favorite recipes, and give each other tips and tricks for making the most of their monthly recipe box. As someone who has always tended to stick to the basics when it comes to essential oils (because I don’t know a lot), I love this! I also really love that they also include a card in their recipe box with descriptions of each oil, their properties, different uses, and benefits. It makes me feel so comfortable (and excited!) knowing how to use each oil.

They also recently announced their launch of Simply Earth Institute coming soon! Members will receive free access to courses on using essential oils and making their own natural products. (In addition to the recipes in your recipe box each month!)

Now if that all wasn’t enough to convince you, Simply Earth also has a monthly essential oil subscription box. But this isn’t like the other subscription boxes you’ve ordered in your life where they are typically filled with trial sized or lower quality items in order to keep it affordable and *just* good enough to keep you paying for it month after month. The Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box is different – and one a subscription box that any essential oil junkie is going to fall in love with!

Each month’s essential oil recipe box contains: 4 Full sized oils, 6 Recipes, and fun extras make it the perfect gift for yourself or a friend. The best part? It’s a $150 value for only $39 per month! As a subscribing member, you’ll also receive exclusive access to members-only discounts and sales on Simply Earth products.

How The Recipe Box Works

The essential oil recipe box is really as amazing as it sounds. Each month is even themed! The Simply Earth aromatherapy team works together to design the perfect recipes, and each month you get all the ingredients, containers, and extras you need to make the natural recipes… delivered right to your doorstep! With the simple instructions and everything you need to get started, you’ll be playing with your essential oils in no time.

NEW From Simply Earth: Starter Box

The themed monthly essential oil recipe boxes from Simply Earth are only getting more popular – which means, they are starting to sell out fast. (For reference, the November box sold out in DAYS.) To make up for it, the ladies at Simply Earth have created the new starter box!

Just like the monthly themed boxes, the new starter box contains 4 full-sized essential oils and all the sweet extras. (Plus even more with my code at the bottom of this post!) But instead of having one theme like the monthly box, it is specially designed to introduce you to a bunch of different ways to use essential oils. (Perfect for you who are new to essential oils!)

Each month when the themed box sells out, a starter box will be offered in its place until the next month’s box becomes available. This means that if you’ve been dying to try the recipe box but missed getting on the bandwagon, you won’t have to wait till the next month to get your very own box. Meanwhile, you’ll then be part of the #squad and will never miss a themed box again!

Plus: A Big Blue Bonus Box!

That’s not all either. In addition to the essential oil recipe box (and starter box), you will also get a big blue bonus box filled with even more goodies when you first subscribe! Along with beeswax, almond oil, and coconut oil to be used with my recipes for the next 6 months, my bonus box also came filled with empty roll-on containers and 5ml blend bottles to save all my favorite blend combinations. Your big blue bonus box will have everything you need to help you enjoy your essential oil recipe boxes for the next 6 months.

NEW From Simply Earth: Natural Deodorant

Before I got pregnant with Layne, I started really paying attention to the products I was using. I started reading labels, and I was appalled at the ingredients in so many products that I had used daily for YEARS. One of the first switches I made was to using a natural deodorant.

Did you know that deodorants and anti-perspirants contain aluminum? (YEAH. ALUMINUM!) Go ahead. You can throw it out now. I did too when I found out.

Like any other product, natural deodorants aren’t made the same. I’ve paid way too much for some that frankly just didn’t work or smelled awful. That’s why I was SO excited to find a travel-sized sample of WildRoot in my December recipe box. WildRoot is a sister company of Simply Earth that uses Simply Earth essential oils to create all natural products. (So you know it’s going to be amazing and of high quality! I’ve been putting it to the test this week, and I really genuinely love it so far! I’ve worn it out and about and while working out at the gym – and I feel like it’s kept me feeling fresh through it all. I’ll keep you updated on what I think when I finish the travel sized sample!

A Look Inside: December’s Essential Oil Recipe Box

Tis the season for gifts and goodies – and the December essential oil recipe box from Simply Earth has something for everyone! Finding gifts for everyone on your list without breaking the bank can be tough. In a season that is supposed to be filled with Christmas cheer, we often find ourselves stressed, overwhelmed, and stuck in a comparison trap. Because of this, I love getting creative and creating unique gifties for my girl friends that bring a little smile and a little self care into their day. This month’s Simply Earth box is embracing just that. It’s all about getting in the Christmas spirit and making gift giving easy, affordable, and toxin-free.

The December box contained Mandarin, Peppermint, and Pine Scotch essential oils as well as the Candy Cane essential oil blend. The box also contained a spray bottle, 2 lip balm tubes, a 2 oz tin, and 6 gift tags with string. (PERFECT for gifting your favorite recipe to a girl friend!)

SIDE NOTE ON THE DECEMBER BOX:

I usually include the diffuser blend as one of my favorite recipes each month, and you may notice that I did not this month. That is because this month’s diffuser blend and room spray recipes are labeled as not dog safe on the recipe card. In order to keep my fur babies safe this month, I did not make these recipes. HERE are some alternative recipes I found on the Simply Earth blog to use your spray bottle for. (OR just use the tags in the December box and gift it!)

I’m constantly learning when it comes to using essential oils. Thankfully, it’s super easy to learn with Simply Earth! I’ve learned so much these past 5 months about essential oils (and just how amazing they really are!) After seeing on the recipe cards that a couple recipes were not dog/cat safe, I wanted to dig a little deeper to know why.

Here is what the aromatherapists from Simply Earth say about the oils in this month’s box in regards to your fur babies.

    • Peppermint Essential Oil: is toxic to dogs and cats if used on the skin or ingested. Avoid diffusing Peppermint Essential Oil around cats. It’s unlikely to cause adverse effects when diffused around a dog.
    • Pine Scotch Essential Oil: is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, so be cautious using this oil around dogs and cats.
    • Mandarin Essential Oil: Cats generally do not like the smell of citrus oils. Citrus oils are unlikely to cause any adverse reactions, but make sure your cat can leave the room if you are using this oil. This oil is unlikely to cause any adverse reactions with dogs, but be mindful of your pet’s behavior when using this oil.
    • Candy Cane Essential Oil Blend: Cats generally do not like the smell of citrus oils, but citrus oils are unlikely to cause any adverse reactions. Make sure your cat can leave the room if you are using this oil. This oil is unlikely to cause any adverse reactions with dogs, but be mindful of your pet’s behavior when using this oil.

After reading their blog post on the Christmas Candy Diffuser Blend, they state that dogs will likely not have a problem with this recipe. Meanwhile, the Citrus Christmas Room Spray is definitely not pet safe. However, since the recipe card in the box stated it was not dog safe, I decided to opt out of making it anyways (just in case!) I think they could have put it on there because you should be super careful diffusing any oils around pets regardless if they are considered pet safe or not.

Here’s a look at a few of my favorite recipes from this month’s box:

Here’s a little peek at some of my favorite recipes from December’s recipe box.

Recipe 1: Mandarin and Coffee Sugar Scrub

A coffee sugar scrub? Who knew that coffee had so many other uses. (Other than bringing me to life every morning!) I’ve read a lot of different things about coffee sugar scrubs. I found out that it can even skin tone, exfoliate, reduce the appearance of cellulite, cleans pores, and can be anti-aging – YES PLEASE!

But really, you had me at coffee. This is the first recipe I dove into when I started playing with this month’s box. First of all, it smells amazing. It obviously smells like coffee, but I love the hints of the Mandarin oil that seems to peek through when I open the jar. When I tried it out after I made it, I couldn’t stop rubbing my hands afterwards. They felt so silky smooth and soft! I immediately knew I needed to make another jar to give to one of my best girl friends for Christmas. (I’m making her a little mama self-care kit! How perfect would that be in there?) The girls at Simply Earth already included tags in this month’s box. So I just tied a pretty bow on the jar with the tag and called it a day!

Recipe 2: Peppermint & Pine Salve

I wanted to make this recipe in this month’s box because I thought it sounded amazing. (Not to mention, it was super easy to make!) Especially with all the crud that tends to go around this time of year, I thought it’d be great to also have on hand. Traveling between North Carolina, Texas, and Georgia for the holidays always messes up my allergies and makes me super congested. I love that this salve can be applied to the chest for a natural decongestant! Meanwhile, it smells amazing like a Christmas tree. I’m definitely keeping this one close by.

Recipe 3: Candy Cane Lip Balm

I’m not quite sure how Simply Earth knew I loved Peppermint lip balm so much. (My mom puts peppermint chapstick in Rob and I’s stockings for Christmas every year!) So you can imagine that I was so excited when I saw a recipe where I could make my own from their exclusive Candy Cane essential oil blend.

Little recipes like this one are seriously so easy (and inexpensive) to make – and make perfect little stocking stuffers! (Especially for little girls who are just exploring the beginning phases of make-up / lip balm / lip gloss.) The recipe box came with two lip balm containers – so I know what I’m including in Rob’s stocking this year now!

Today on Insta Stories I shared a couple of simple Today on Insta Stories I shared a couple of simple tips for decorating with faux floral stems in wall planters. 🪴 In case you missed it ➡️ 1. Stuff your planters with those extra plastic grocery bags. I showed y’all how great they held up the stems in place! Not to mention, it keeps you from having to completely fill each planter. 2. Make sure to bend the ends of your stems to the desired height rather than cut them so you can reuse them each year in a different way, whether that be in a wall planter this year and a large jug vase next year! They then become an investment and can actually save you money by you not having to purchase new stems each year. ✨ So what do y’all think — was that helpful? #ahostinghome

I obviously didn’t read the dimensions because it’s large, in charge, and takes up a lot of room in our living room — which in turn caused me to rearrange all our furniture. 🤷🏼‍♀️😅 Not only did I get a great workout 🤪 but Willie also found a new perch to bark at the neighbors out the front door. But you know what? This is real life — and I LOVE this season of life that God has blessed me with. With two babies in heaven, I’ve prayed for this season for so long. ❤️ And while it’s not the most aesthetically pleasing thing on Instagram, I hope to inspire you with the real life of living where you love, in the season of life that you’re in. ✨❤️ #ahostinghome

I was going to wait for it to be completely done, I was going to wait for it to be completely done, but I can’t help myself! ✨ Tackled this china cabinet yesterday, and all I can say is WOW WHAT A TRANSFORMATION. (Swipe to see the before! ➡️) 😍👏🏼 This china cabinet belonged to my grandmother, and It’s been so fun getting to make it my own and make it apart of my home. I painted it with @behrpaint chalk paint in the color ‘Classic Noir’ and accented it with the most darling @wallpops wallpaper in the back. Now I just need to do the finishing touches by rub n’ buffing the hardware, and it’ll be done. 😍 I originally wanted to paint it white because I was nervous to paint it black— but now I’m SO glad I did! My motto for 2021: don’t be afraid to be bold with design! (It’s just paint! 😉) So tell me, what do y’all think?! #ahostinghome
Don’t mind me, just chilling in my comfy clothes Don’t mind me, just chilling in my comfy clothes and slippers admiring the work that I did today. Master bathroom paint is (pretty much) finished, and I’m already in love with how my vision for it is coming together. Rob keeps laughing because this all started with needing to fix our shower... yet I have to remind him that he knew what he got into when he married me. 😘 I can’t believe how much painting this little wall made our marble tile pop! Now I want to put this color everywhere in my house. 😍 P.S. Did you catch some paint project tips in my stories today? ✨#ahostinghome

Too early for Spring, yet when I put Christmas decor away, I like to put it all away so I can have a fresh and clean slate for the new year. That means lots of greenery and fresh additions mixed with cozy textures to give it a clean and fresh feeling while I focus on projects and things around the house for the new year. Hello, progress photo! My name is Cathy, and I lov Hello, progress photo! My name is Cathy, and I loveee to paint! ✨❤️ While I only get small slivers of time right now because I’m a mama to a sweet newborn, I’m making the most of it — and our master bathroom is slowly getting its much needed facelift. Our new shower door won’t get delivered until later this month, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me from getting my hands on the rest of the walls! I absolutely love this Pure White by @sherwinwilliams — it’s the same white I used when I redid our guest bathroom. It’s the perfect neutral white that is going to make this space look so much bigger and brighter! 😍 #ahostinghome

It’s crazy how much of a difference paint and a wood board with hooks can make! ✨ It completely transformed this space and gave it so much functionality. (SWIPE ➡️ to see the before!) I see a lot more paint and DIYs in 2021 — and I CAN’T WAIT! 👏🏼

Happy New Year, friends! ✨ As I mentioned on Ins Happy New Year, friends! ✨ As I mentioned on Insta Stories the other day, we ended 2020 with a leak in our master bathroom that is making us take out our builder grade shower insert and redo it (so 2020, right? 🤦🏼‍♀️) — so we’re starting out 2021 with a master bathroom makeover! ✨ Since we have to redo the shower, we decided to go ahead and makeover the rest of the bathroom too because it’s a space we really haven’t touched yet. I’ve been dying to get my hands on it, but I have always been too hesitant and unsure of what I wanted to do. Channeling my goal for 2021 of being bold and fearless in my DIY projects this year, we’re going for it! Here’s a peek at the design board I have working so far, and you can see the progress and behind the scenes on Instagram stories as we go. (I’ve started saving it all to a highlight on my profile too!) To say I can’t wait is a bit of an understatement. So tell me, what do you think of my vision so far?! #ahostinghome

It was funky and bold and totally out of my comfort zone when it came to my decorating style, and I think that’s why I’m so obsessed with it! Is it weird to say that my guest bathroom inspires me everyday? ✨ This next year my goal is to be bold with my design choices and projects while being fearless in picking up a tool and trying something new — and I can’t wait to kick it off with our master bathroom makeover! ✨ What are your goals for the new year? #ahostinghome
