Market Basket Wreath + Summer Wreath Inspiration
Market Basket Wreaths For Summer
When you think about it, your front door and front porch is like the first impression of your home. So when it comes to your front door, I’m a firm believer that it is not complete without some sort of wreath. I’ve made a lot of different wreaths for the changing seasons over the years, and I’ve loved getting to use it as an opportunity to get creative and put forth a great first impression for everyone who finds themselves walking to our front door. I like to use my wreath as like a sneak peek for the style you’re going to find when you come inside.
Last year, I kept it simple with a DIY magnolia wreath that I absolutely loved. (You can read the tutorial in this post.) I actually planned on making another DIY magnolia wreath again this year until I saw a really cute idea on Pinterest where someone hung a straw bag with flowers on the door as a wreath. I went to Walmart and snagged some faux tulips and hydrangeas, and I stuffed them in a straw Ikea tote that I got when we were shopping for the nursery. But this is the part that bloggers don’t often share about – to be honest, it was a total failure. The tote was the wrong shape and size, and it just didn’t work.

A few days later, I found myself in the hospital with Layne, so I left it up and tolerated it. However, after his death and then his funeral, we received so many breathtakingly beautiful arrangements sent to us from friends and family all across the world. So many arrangements were sent in gorgeous baskets and planters that I ended up keeping. My favorite basket came with a little gardenia tree from Rob’s work family. I loved how it had a vintage farmhouse look to it. Immediately I knew I wanted to reuse it in my summer decor.
After we finally planted the tree in our backyard, I noticed that the basket it was in had a small handle. Like a little goof, I got so excited and wondered how it would look stuffed with flowers on the front door. Needless to say since I’m writing this post, I’m in love! It’s so simple yet darling. The best part is that anyone could easily achieve this look. It really is as simple as stuffing florals into a basket.
