Pantone Inspired Ultra Violet Bohemian Wedding Inspiration
As a designer of weddings and spaces to gather, my passion lies with creating and styling spaces that are as unique as the ones who will inhabit them. I am mainly known for my southern style. But, I love to constantly change things up and challenge myself when styling new spaces. Two big ways I love to challenge myself are with color and design styles.
To be honest, purple has never been one of those colors that I’ve been a huge fan of. Don’t get me wrong – I love lavender and more pastel shades of purple. However, when it comes to using brighter shades of the color for a space, I find that it’s very hit or miss. In my personal opinion it’s a very hard color to do tastefully. So, you can imagine that I was not exactly ecstatic when Pantone revealed that the 2018 color of the year was exactly that — Ultra Violet.
Southern Celebrations Magazine Pantone Creative Challenge
This wedding inspiration photoshoot actually all started when Shannon of Shannon Ford Photography and Natalie of Cake Envy approached me about participating in the Southern Celebrations Magazine Pantone Creative Challenge. Our previous winter wedding photoshoot had been a huge success (I can’t wait to share it on the blog this fall!), and literal magic is always made when I work with the two of them. However, I had one condition. I wanted to design something that I have never done before.
The Design Inspiration
Being from Texas and now living in Georgia, I am definitely known for the southern wedding style. However, I knew that if I was going to take on an ultra violet color palette, I wanted it to be fresh and something jaws would drop over. When constructing the color palette, I decided to compliment the ultra violet color by pairing it with a neutral base, jewel tones, and greenery accents. We definitely wanted Ultra Violet to be the star of the show in a tasteful way without being ‘too-much’.
Meanwhile, it wasn’t until I went to visit Bear Claw Vineyards in person that the design style for this shoot hit me. I walked the space with the venue manager, and she was expressing her concern about the timing of the photoshoot because the grass would still be dormant and the vines would be bare. The thought of a southwestern, desert style immediately came to mind – but that idea didn’t exactly mesh well with a winery in the North Georgia mountains. From there I decided to channel a more California bohemian vibe that was the perfect mix of elegance and whimsy. Needless to say, I think it all turned out way more perfect than I could have ever imagined. There’s no way you’re not going to swoon over this gallery!
Ultra Violet Bohemian Wedding
I have so many favorite things that came from this photoshoot. Not only did the design come together flawlessly. But we also had the opportunity to get creative on another front. Rob and I had the opportunity to handcraft a custom 5-foot bohemian style dining table and a custom A-frame ceremony backdrop as part of A Hosting Home. From the dip-dyed macrame piece to the organic floral design and our model’s ultraviolet dyed hair, no detail was left untouched as we came together to produce this stunning ultra violet bohemian wedding. There is no doubt that this photoshoot will always have a special place in my heart. Not only did it serve as the debut for Rob and I’s new brand. But, the success of this shoot made us only that much more excited to chase this dream of ours together.
