Handcrafted Farmhouse End Tables
Handcrafted Farmhouse End Tables
You may remember a few months ago I shared the handcrafted farmhouse coffee table and sofa table that we made for our living room. I shared them as a part of the launching of our new business and brand, and they got a huge response. We heard from so many that loved how they turned out. It couldn’t have been a more perfect way to kick off a new beginning for #ahostinghome. Every day my heart is so happy that God has given me the opportunity to inspire my friends (that’s you!) with my home and events. I can’t say it enough!
My style is definitely some sort of mix between a few different farmhouse styles. However, it is all based on a huge love for neutrals and cozy spaces made to gather for life’s precious moments.

After those blog posts went live, we were asked to handcraft custom end tables for a new client. They loved the same distressed white and stained top style as well as the farmhouse ‘X’ detailing that I can’t get enough of. With how much everyone loved how the coffee table and sofa table came out, I have been dying to share these too!
Rather than just make a smaller replica of the coffee table for the end tables, we decided to add a twist to the stained top. You’re going to love how this simple twist gave these beautiful pieces even more character. These pieces are bound to make a statement in any farmhouse living room.

Like I mentioned, this client absolutely loved the distressed white and stained top style that the coffee table and sofa table had. They also loved the farmhouse ‘X’ detailing that I can’t get enough of. (You’ll have to read all about that obsession in the previous posts linked above!)
We decided to make the end tables out of pine. With pine, they’d be stout, sturdy, and able to last for this soon-to-be-married couple as they started their new lives together in their new home. But when Rob was playing with some leftover cedar that we had from a previous project, we had an idea. We couldn’t help but want to bring the design of these beautiful pieces to the next level for this precious couple. As we enter into our second year of marriage, we know first hand what it is like starting your lives together. Not to mention, we know how it can be starting it in a new home. Newlywed life oftentimes brings a new life, a new home, and lots of furniture to figure out what to do with.
Needless to say, we definitely wanted to make this project super special as it’s among the firsts of their furniture together in their new home. Rather than just the plain plank wood top that we designed the coffee table and sofa table to have, we wanted to change it up. We loved the idea of alternating thin pine and cedar planks inside a border.
When you stain different types of wood, they all absorb the stain differently. Meanwhile, this slight variance in color created a gorgeous look for these table tops once they were finished. It ended up giving the end tables a lot of character that was subtle while still making a statement.

My end tables are so ugly. I want to replace them but it’s a fight with hubby. Maybe if I take the time to do something like this I can change his mind.
I love the semi-rustic look of these end tables. But the detail in the wood dresses them up a bit. I bet my husband would love to make these!
What a great decor piece to add to a home
