Sweet as Honey Southern Wedding Inspiration // The Barn at Oak Manor Styled Shoot
Southern Wedding Inspiration
It’s hard to believe that it was almost a year ago when Sharayah from Noble Sparrow Photography reached out to me to meet her for coffee. We sat in that little coffee shop in her small town and laughed at the fact that, while we had never met in person before, Instagram had made it feel like we were already friends. (Does that happen to anyone else?) It was that day over coffee that Sharayah poured her heart out for a styled shoot that she had been envisioning for quite some time. She had already made the arrangements with a venue, but she needed someone to help take her vision to the next level and make it a reality. The vision she poured out that day came to life in the form of a breathtaking southern wedding Barn at Oak Manor styled shoot.
The Barn at Oak Manor Styled Shoot
For those of you who may not know about The Barn at Oak Manor, it’s a truly beautiful gem out in Newnan, Georgia. Between Mother Oak, the barn, and the Oak Manor, there really is so much that you can do with this venue. Their bridal suite and man cave basement is getting ready #goals, and I firmly believe that the barn is the perfect backdrop to any southern wedding. (There’s a reason I couldn’t help but design our tablescape with the barn doors in mind!) Not to mention, the new dock over the water on the property made for the dreamiest of photos as we were chasing the evening light at the end of our shoot.
Sweet as Honey Style
I knew right away that I wanted to be a part of this shoot. Actually, I took one glance at her inspiration board that she passed me over the table and said, “I’m in.” She looked at me with wide eyes and said, “Really?” About an hour later we were standing in front of the barn with heart eyes. The venue was perfect. Not to mention, the possibilities for the shoot were endless.
It’s no secret that the color yellow has a way of turning some people off. However, I saw past it and fell in love with something so beautiful. I didn’t want this to be your typical yellow color palette. I really wanted to embrace the natural essence of the color and the natural essence of what this shoot was about.
Our main vision for this shoot was to create something that celebrated how sweet love really is. That, while it can be sticky, it’s the sweetest thing that God has given us. With honey and a more muted yellow as our starting point, we created the perfect blend of organic elegance while mixing shades of yellow and gold with the natural beauty that comes with greenery. I also wanted to take our design a step further by incorporating geometric designs that reflected a honeycomb style without being cheesy or overdone. Between the yellow ombre hexagonal cake and cookies from Pastry Shells and the simple marble place cards by Fifty Four Degrees, they turned out to be a sweet touch that was was subtle yet made all the difference.
So Much to Love
I must say that this tablescape was my favorite part of our styled shoot. (Meanwhile, we also had the official dream team of wedding professionals!) There’s just something magical about Rhapsody in Bloom‘s florals paired with her bee’s wax candles and the darling china and table from The Vintage Rental Co. The white farm table ended up having the perfect contrast against the dark wood of the barn doors. I especially loved incorporating a bench on one side so that there was an open view of the tablescape. Meanwhile, I also loved that the napkin detail didn’t get lost in the chair backs.
I’ve created a lot of tablescapes in my lifetime. But, this one definitely holds a special place in my heart. (I don’t like to play favorites. But, it’s one of my favorites, y’all!) Not to mention, we had the most darling couple volunteer to be our models. They were such sweethearts and absolutely the perfect fit for our shoot. It made my heart so happy when it was picked up for publication on The Perfect Palette a few weeks ago. The perfect shoot for this perfect set of vendors.

These photos are to die for. And the yellow paired with that color of green is just dreamy! Beautifully shot and the scenery was perfect!
Thank you, Chelsea! It came together so beautifully! Yellow is definitely one of those colors many people stay away from, but I loved getting back to the organic essence of the color. <3
