Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
Brown paper packages tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Happy Friday, friends! Before I launched my new website back in January, I had kicked off a 7 week series called #FavesFriday. Faves Friday is all about sharing my favorite things ranging from all things seasons to all things weddings. Not only will you head into your weekend swooning, but you’ll feel inspired and ready to Plan Well and Party Often.
You have the Sound of Music soundtrack stuck in your heard, and I bet you’ve already sang the song three times since you first read it above. So, now it’s time to kick off another Faves Friday series with my summer favorites!
It’s safe to say that I have a new obsession with pineapples. They’re everywhere this summer season. From the Tori Burch Slip-Ons I’ve linked below to the paper straws and string lights I highlighted in my Backyard Party Inspiration post – Not only are they super cute and a fun decor addition, but I love what they represent. In colonial America, hostesses would set a pineapple in the middle of their tables when guests were to come over. The pineapple, then, symbolized the warmest welcome a hostess could extend to her guests.
As someone who uses her hosting heart to serve her loved ones well, I’ve fallen in love with the pineapple being a symbol of hospitality, welcome, and friendship. I don’t know if it’s just a hot trend right now, but I don’t remember ever seeing pineapples back in Texas. I sometimes wonder if moving to Georgia and being on the east coast has just opened my eyes to it. After all, isn’t Georgia known for its southern hospitality? Either way, now I can’t get enough. Not to mention, they are the perfect summer addition to your home and wardrobe. Bright colors always seem to bright up my mood – I guess that’s why I love summer!
Pineapples may just have to be a year-round staple in my home. It’s taking everything in me along with the loving advice of my husband to not order everything I linked below. I’m afraid I won’t be able to help myself on my next Target run though. A pineapple shaped tumbler would be perfect for our beach vacation!
There’s just something about floppy hats that screams beach vacation. That’s why I knew when I went on my honeymoon to the Bahamas last summer that I needed a monogrammed floppy hat. With that, the obsession was born. Here’s a little photo of my hubby and I in Nassau with my floppy hat from Kailey’s Monogram Shop on etsy.
While I may have stuck out like a sore thumb and looked like a super tourist with my fanny pack, I didn’t care. Let’s be real, you wear floppy hats make you feel fabulous and put together. That’s exactly what I did on my honeymoon, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do on my beach trip. The only thing I’m sad about is that I didn’t order another one soon enough before I left for the coast. A floppy hat with black poms and “Out of Office” or “Rose all day” would have made for the perfect beach accessory with that pineapple shaped tumbler.
What would you want your floppy hat to say?
I’ve always been a big lover of floral, especially the beautiful spring and summer blooms that you find with weddings. Summer is one of my favorite seasons to swoon over the creations of my talented flower friends. (There’s a reason I’m not a floral designer, y’all!) My personal summer flower favorites are definitely hydrangeas, peonies, gerbera daisies, and garden roses. I’m also starting to love the use of succulents in bouquets. Anyone else?
I’m a firm believer that you can complete any table or brighten any space with the perfect blooms. But, there’s just something about what’s in stores this season that has me loving floral even more. From floral maxi dresses to floral bed sheets and home decor, I want it all. While bed sheets may have you feeling like you’re spending the night at your grandma’s house, I feel like they’d be the perfect blast from the past for your home. Besides, who doesn’t love grandma’s house? Maybe it’s just my farmhouse vibe, but I love those cute, antique-like touches that make your home feel even more like a home to rest or gather.
Seasonal Decor + Serving
As you saw with in Backyard Party Inspiration post, I love bringing together seasonal pieces to create the perfect space for a summer fiesta or a backyard get together. If you love to create a place to gather like I do, you’re bound to host a party in your home a time or two this summer. Places like Dollar Tree and Target are perfect for grabbing those seasonal party and home accessories on a budget. But, I’ve already called your significant other. He said you can spend as much as you want! *wink*
The great part of having a neutral color palette throughout your home is that it makes it super easy to switch out your accessories by the season. It’s also cheaper! Rather than having to make major changes with the switch of the seasons, make smaller swaps of pillows, floral in your vases, and those little accessories on your bookshelves. Like florals, there’s just something about the pops of summer color that can brighten your home. I guess you won’t be having to spend so much after all.
Warning: It may have you craving some beach time, though!
Kate Spade Keds
This is more oddly specific than the other categories. I’m not talking about just any Keds (which I love anyways!) I’m talking about the new glitter Kate Spade Keds. Not only do they sparkle like the stars in the night sky, but they can bring a pop of shine to any outfit. I’m guilty of giving in to the trend, and I’m now the proud owner of the gold and rose gold pairs.
Not to mention, the silver pair really is the perfect option to brides who love their feet on their wedding day!

You can shop some of my favorite finds from the categories above, here! The only problem is that I can’t promise that you won’t fall in love with them as much as I did.
